A weekly workshop designed to facilitate new drafts, the Generative Poetry Workshops offer prompts, readings, friendly discussion, and no critique.

In this class we will discuss poems by Bernadette Mayer and write new poems inspired by their forms and provocations. At home, we will write after durational prompts designed to increase our capacity for composing spontaneously and for longer durations. I will send you lots of PDFs, because after Bernadette died there was a beautiful surge of piracy as we all rushed to share her works with everyone we knew. Class will culminate in a collaborative account of October, after Mayer and Warsh's Piece of Cake. Let us come together to "save structure or form from itself, because then nothing has to begin or end."

The Generative Workshops are designed to inspire new poems, and do not include critique.
