A weekly workshop designed to facilitate new drafts, the Generative Poetry Workshops offer prompts, readings, friendly discussion, and no critique.
Generative Poetry Workshop 16: Writing a Part
4 sessions, 1.5 hours each
Sundays in a park in Berkeley, August 9th-30th, 1-2:30pm

Mondays online, August 10th-31st, 4:30-6pm

In this class, we will experiment with divided lines, write from estranged perspectives, and edit our poems as if they were puzzles with multiple solutions. We will read work by Denise Riley, Basie Allen, Jennifer Soong, Steve Orth, Catullus & more. In between classes, I will send you more prompts. The Generative Workshops are designed to inspire new poems, and do not include critique.

Youth Creative Writing
Sophia Dahlin has taught youth poetry and creative writing with Oakland Poets in the Schools, Poetry Inside Out, and Stanford Pre-Collegiate studies. She now teaches small groups of students for her company Young Writers’ Grove.
